Detailreiche Arrangements, technische Versiertheit und ein Tobias Forge in stimmlicher Hochform prägen eine Platte, die mit Hits nur so um sich wirft. Neben der kürzlich ausgekoppelten Single "Lachryma" glänzen vor allem flottere Nummern wie "De Profundis Borealis", "Marks Of The Evil One" und der 80er-Hardrock von "Cenotaph". Mit "Guiding Lights" und "Excelsis" gibt es außerdem zwei herausragende Balladen mit reichlich Pathos.
Altmeister Billy Idol meldet sich mit seinem ersten Studioalbum seit über einem Jahrzehnt zurück. "Dream Into It" vereint neun Songs, darunter Kollaborationen mit Joan Jett, Avril Lavigne und Alison Mosshart von The Kills. Die Vorabsingle "Still Dancing" schlägt eine Brücke zwischen Idols Punk-Wurzeln und seinem heutigen Sound, während "... 77 - feat. Avril Lavigne" einen modernen Mix aus klassischem R'n'R und Punk-Attitüde auffährt. Mit "Dream Into It" beweist Idol, dass er auch mit 69 Jahren nichts an Energie verloren hat.

Auf dem elften Studioalbum der US-Metaller sind auch erstmals Drummer Matt Alston und Leadgitarrist Reece Scruggs zu hören, die einen erwartbar tadellosen Job erledigen. Robb Flynn und Band bewegen sich nach wie vor zwischen Old-School und Moderne, wie etwa These Scars Won't Define Us" zeigt, die Kollabo mit In Flames, Lacuna Coil und Unearth.
